I'm sorry, I could see that CO2 thread getting out of control, so jumped to the Lounge.

i'll have the slot cars set (scalectrix?) if u r throwing it out, lol

i used to have a great set when i was a kid, with tons and tons of track. not a 6 lane one tho, and i wish i never gave it away

My track IS Scalextric (the same as Scalectrix, but pronounced differently - hem hem). Yes, still have all mine, doesn't come out of the box(s) very often unfortunately.

I think I was about 22, bought myself the four lane figure eight set for my Birthday. We set it up at a mate's place, and were always trying to come up with a good layout. Everytime we came up short of a few pieces of track, we'd just drive into to town and buy what we needed. This went on for 3 or 4 months. We were fruit picking, and no other commitments, so money really wasn't much of a hassle.

Most of my mates bought their own cars, some bought some track. But it's all here in my storeroom, in very good condition. I see the new release's under the SLX banner, have digital controllers - you can steer onto the other lanes! Pretty Nifty. They have 'conversion' tracks too. So my stuffs still good for it!

This is a 'scratch-built' working slot-car of my Spot-lighting rig. My friend Glenn built it for my birthday. He put it in a Scalextric box, and laser printed a label 'Holden HQ Panel van'. I was convinced for several days it was genuine. I kept telling people I just couldn't believe he'd manage to get hold of it, it was so realistic!

Anyway, here's the pic, I did the figures, all of whom are recognisable by the guys. That's 'your's truly' looking out the window, and Glenn on the bonnet in front of me. (and I hooked up the working lights!)

The 'Chav', I actually wiped out with a low branch, one night when we were out. I was driving, and I said, 'low branch coming up, you wanna stop?'. The answer comes back over the headset, 'Nuh, she's right, keep going.' So, I did, 'scrraaaape' across the roof, followed by a 'thump!', out the back. It cleaned him up a beaut, tossed him over the back of the car head first!

And didn't his Mum take a piece out of me the next morning! We'd all just come home about sunrise, straight into the bunks. His Mum comes into his room later that morning. There he was fast asleep, his head covered in blood! "PETER K - WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO MY SON!!?".

For some reason, most of the Mum's seemed to regard me as the 'ring-leader'!

Hey Fishy! I was down at JB's yesterday looking for a couple of 'The Models' albums, and came across some recent DVD releases - 3 Marillion Live Concerts, 2 with Fish, 1 post-Fish.

My Virtual Christmas Stocking is starting to fill!

i had to do a bit of research before i responded to ur last post, for 2 reasons.

i didnt say before but i didnt recognise 'The Models', they must have slipped me by. according to one description - the Models was formed in 1978 out of the remnants of Melbourne neo-punk groups Teenage Radio Stars (Sean Kelly and Pierre Voltaire) and JAB (Janis Freidenfelds and Ash Wednesday). - this partly explains y i dont know of them. i didnt realy get into punk at the time, i was too into rock music.

i then had to look up Marillion albums. i didnt know that they had continued with a new singer after fish had left plus i knew i had only followed them for the 1st few albums and couldn't remember which or how many. looking at this web site reminded me that my interest wayned after the 3rd studio album that i didnt realy like as much as the 1st 2. thinking about it, i quite liked the second album and bought the singles that were released from it in 12" picture disc as i had with the 1st album. in my opinion their sound changed a lot on the 3rd studio album, with songs like Kayleigh which i didnt like. so i gave up on them after this. i suppose i'd watch the DVD if i had the chance, it would be a blast from the past so to speak. i am also reminded that i met fish briefly somewhere. i cant remember where, only that i got him to sign my copy of Fugazi, which i think i may still have.

here is a good Marillion album list if u r interested ...

i havent got a virtual Chrimbo stocking myself, but if i did have all i'd want to fill it is a non-virtual leggy lovely, being that im not married or seeing anyone just now Sad

if i cant have the leggy lovely then maybe a new 4' - 6' fish tank, altho it'd have to be a big stocking to fit it into Laughing

That third Album you didn't like, was their most successful. Seem's you liked Fugazi the most. Of the first three, that's the one I like the least. That site link is not bad, I like that it displays the Album covers. But It's a simplified listing (or out of date). The site lists 18 Albums, I have 17 Albums. There remain 7 Albums on that site, I don't have. Likewise, I have 7 Albums, they don't list.

Of the original releases (at the time), the only Fish Album I don't have is Brief Encounter. And I still have 1 of the re-released Double Studio / Demo / Gig Albums, of the Fish era to track down. I have the 'Singles Collection' DVD. I think the other 2 Fish DVD's I saw, were 'Live at Loreley', and 'From Stoke Row to Ipanema'.

I'm not sure I'd have ever labelled 'Models' as Punk. They were certainly progressive, and very non - 'commercial mainstream', until about the time they finished up, at the end of the 80's. I've been tracking down some of their early work, before their record deal in 1980.

I just managed to pick up another Models album in a 2nd-hand store. I don't usually go for 'best of' type of Albums, but this one is signed by Sean Kelly, the lead vocalist!

Just one more album to track down...
