Well, I've now got two lots of Cory Fry coming along nicely. I've applied a few things I've picked up in these Forums, and feel I'll have an improved survival rate this time round. I've just passed that critical 10th day stage with the first batch, and they look good.
I've got my Network (LAN) up and running. Had a few delays. Bought a new 3D Video adapter for my daughters games (Sims 2, Simpsons Hit & Run). I let the salesman talk me into a card other than the one I'd researched. Blew our budget by almost half again ($120 increased to $170). But I researched again when we got home, as it turns out, I got a $350 card for $170, so I felt better.
I had this happen with a Microscope I bought my other Daughter for Christmas. The guy got the boxes mixed up (they're all just brown cardboard). I ended up with a $500 better model Microscope for $350.
Anyway, I've never seen this before, but the video card must be connected direct to the computers power supply. So we installed, the games came up great, then 'pop' - blew our power supply. $80 later, replaced our 450watt power supply with a new 550watt.
The only thing I'm disappointed in, is that it doesn't have a 'pass-through' to power the monitor through the computer. So I'll have to modify it with cannibalised parts from the old power supply.
I've put three new fluro's in my main tank, and the algae has gone wild. So I'm waiting for my 30 baby Bristlenose to get large enough to avoid being eaten by the Angelfish. Then they can go back in and clean up the tank. So that's two or three weeks off.
And whilst I'm on the subject of Microscopes... I've found all sorts of interesting things in the tank water! I'm actually eyeing off a Microscope Video Camera I saw in the Electronics catalogue. That should make for some interesting pics! They also have a submersable camera, so pictures from 'inside' the tank!
And since my Network's now up, I can get my Fish photos into my Web Page, and Post a few more interesting Topics. Here endeth the Blog...
