Some recent clippings to show what else is out there...

SHORTHORN STUD, BOER GOATS AND MURRAY COD
Carol Bartley and Ken Drane operate a Shorthorn Stud and Boer goat farm
near Albury. They also grow out Murray Cod in open ponds, allowing the
fish to forage for food - and are amongst few farmers growing Murray Cod
in this way. The two ponds cover around one hectare and each carries 500
fish. Pellets are fed automatically and the water is aerated. Effluent is
recycled on to fodder crops.

AGRI-AQUACULTURE PROJECT
Frank Malcolm is working with the Department of Primary Industry on an
agri-aquaculture project which involves him caring for 1800 fish for just
fifteen minutes each day. For fourteen months he's been managing 1500
golden perch and 300 Murray Cod in aerated tubs on his property, with the
work involving brushing out the tubs and filling auto-feeders. The fish
are growing to a size such that they can be transferred to open-cage
systems, eventually for sale to retail outlets. Mr Malcolm's return on his
effort is to accept the nutrient-rich water from the fish culture facility
and discharge it on his dairy property. The Naringaningalook farm was
recently the venue for the first of four demonstration days. There's to be
another on April 24.

MORE MURRAY COD, GOLDEN PERCH
The Echuca Moama RSL and Citizen's Club recently released more than 12,000
Murray Cod and golden perch fingerlings into the Murray River. Some 4,500
Murray Cod and 8,200 golden perch were released at the Five Mile Boat ramp
at Moama. The release was performed under the supervision of a
representative from the Uarah Fish hatchery, located at Grong Grong, NSW.
