Yet another of my December hatchings.
[above] These fellas are from a batch of approx 30. They are being transferred here to our fry tank. It was only a few days after we discovered them. Probably about three weeks old.
This is the fry tank, a day or so later. Note the Cory egg in the background. The young bristlenose' often group in 12 or 15, but unfortunately it's always at the rear of the tank in the shadows.

Doesn't the water make the envelope soggy?
Pics! Pics! Where are the pics?
I hope this week to clean up my large tank, which in turn means I'll be attempting to catch those little BN's to return to the main tank (not looking forward to that!). And this should provide a good photo opportunity, so you can see their development.
I need to get a good pic of him, but he knows the good hiding places in the tank! But he's fun to watch on the rare occassions when I see him out and about.
That should be fun to catch the little guys. Do they grow fast?

If you'd asked me a week ago, I would've said no. But looking at them now, I'm beginning to see the difference. Although there is a suggestion of variation in the growth of individuals. Here's a shot of a couple who were out where I could actually see them. This photo looks close to actual size. At six to seven weeks I believe. (seems my glass needs a clean too...)

Here we go, these guys must be coming up to about the two month mark. Sorry the group shot's a bit blurry, I'm still having hassles with the Depth of Field on these pocket Digitals. And keeping my hands from wobbling! Oh, for a good SLR... Enjoy!
Oh yeah! I missed a really good shot this morning, I was too busy watching the egg laying. One of these buggers had attached himself to the side of a Female Cory!

regarding pics, i was going to suggest to Kristen, bribe ur BN with a chunk of well placed courgette/zuchini, then i saw Peter's (Kanas) pic.
u've all probably seen the following pic before but i like it so i'm gonna include it again, my 1st BN when it was about 2.5 inches long, 'bribed' to sit at the front of the tank
oh yea, ment to say too ... nice pics Peter, and nice fish.
my newest BN is probably not much bigger than those and very similar in markings. cute as a button i recon

Same here, its a gamble I know but the local shops haven't carried many bristlenoses lately so I had to give it a go. They're supposed to be big enough to sex so I've asked the seller for 2 males and 4 females to go with the female I think I've already got and in my tank and as soon as I've finished moving stuff around the house they'll be split into 2 30" tanks with a male and 3 females and left to let nature take its course hopefully .

We've plenty of Bristlenose around, but they're very pricey. My local Aquarium reckons they're too expensive even for Him to buy! I've seen some in other stores, barely larger than mine, going for Aus $28!
And speaking of 'larger', mine seem to be hitting a 'growth-spurt'. Marked increase in size over the past few days! "Bewdy!" The bigger they are, the more you can flog 'em for! (And if these Oto's don't arrive soon, perhaps my 'trade-in' will become a 'swap'...)

$28 is pricey (£12). i've seen adults being sold for about £8 ($19) at the most here and they tend to have them in every few weeks. my latest BN, was about an inch long when i bought him and he cost me £3 ($7). sounds like u could have a lttle side line in producing BN's, lol. saying that any 'profit' i make from selling fish soon gets eaten up with food (pardon the pun) and equipment purchases.
funnily enough i have noticed my little guy seems to have grown quite a bit recently, double his size roughly and its only been 4 weeks since i bought him.
