Alright the question to end all questions, and i want every user on here to reply, if we can find all the users LOL.
What is your favorite fish?
It can be species. It can be a one particular fish you had, it can be a fish you want to keep. And provide photos if possible.
Lets just here what everybodies absolute fav fish is.
My fav species is cichlids, all and every cichlid from key holes, to africans, to south americans and beyond.
My fav fish of all died a while back Big my texas cichlid. He was my first big cichlid.
My fav fish now is Sunny my Red Devil.
He is like that one great dog that no one ever forgets. He comes to me with out fail when i come to the tank, He loves to investigate my hands in the tank. I just love the heck out of him. This is an old photo but a good one. When he is full size i could make him into to a show fish if i wanted to. Just plain gorgeous. _________________

As Clunkster suggests, not really an easy question to answer.
Given that most of your collection tends to be made up of your preferred species.
But for me, right now, the drab old Keyhole Cichlid. Always amazing me with those little quirks of behaviour.

DWARF CATFISH! Please don't ask for a pic though because I tried desperately to photo my swordtails & a large blackskirt tetra & failed. MISERABLY! Just little blurry objects that you can't make out at all. They just won't stand still! Little, uncooperative buggers. Hermies are much easier to photo. I doubt my fish would appreciate being picked up & held by their fin just so I can get a photo. Not good. They're a bit smaller than a neon, almost algae eater color, w/a little barbel on each side. Just sooo adorable. They're really hard to find though! Like trying to find a small Strawberry crab...needle in a haystack. LOL Plus, I hardly ever see the 2 I have! _________________ Keeping fish for over 20 years! |

Wow. Some neat questions posed here at AB lately. When I thought about my answer, I actually surprised myself.
By broad answer is South American Cichlids - Angels & Discus specifically.
I LOVE my Discus....
That's my Melon - I have 9 Discus total in my 150. I love the way they follow me as I walk through the room. They eat out of my hand and wil actually come up to the glass and "wag" like a dog when they see you. Awesome fish.
I also love my Angels - I have 2 breeders now. Actually, when you asked this question - the one single fish that I'd be most upset about losing the one in the uper-left of this photo...
We've just been through a lot with her. She was smaller than dime sized when I got her. We thought she was a guy at one point, so her name is Ned. Woops. Her old tank mate nearly beat her to death. They also follow you through the room & eat out of our hands.
But now she's got a new man & they're spawning like crazy. In fact they are raising their own fry now which is awesome. A lot of angels will never do that.
So - when she goes I think I'll probably be a bit sentimental.

hard for me to say, initially, because i like all my fishy friends, but at a push it has to be my BNs. i love the big female, she really is queen of the tank and since i got the young male i love his cheek and tenacity. although he usually loses, he isn't afraid to stand up to the female.
below is a pic taken a few months back. the male (on the right) is now a little bit bigger and has grown a few more bristles. this pic shows the 2 of them facing up to each other and flaring their side bristles, which appears to be an aggressive gesture.
