I dunno, it just seemed to roll off my tongue. I have no idea how you pronounce your name, so it's probably all due my 'Strine' accent!

Oh - And Darren, I worked that video stuff out. Using the same Host Site as yourself, makes an incredible difference. The same file is now up and running in seconds, instead of the 1 minute just to start, on the Host Site I was using. They must have a bandwidth bottleneck.

Although, I'd have preferred my videos weren't publicly browsable, but I guess since they're just Fish, I can live with that. I may add a watermark perhaps... Lot's of thanks for your help!

Now it makes more sense. When I try saying "bettinacharlotta" in an Australian accent, it sounds much more like pina colata. I've never tried telling someone how to pronounce my name without talking to them, so I won't try. I'd probably end up typing something that didn't make sense. I don't mind if you pronounce it wrong. My gym teacher in elementary school always called me Brettina. Most people I know say Charlotta (my middle name) wrong because it is pronounced differently in English than in Finnish. It really doesn't bother me. Smile

That reminds me of when I was in Boston. I was trying to order a Cappuccino. I'd asked about five times, and the poor girl still couldn't figure out what I was saying. I was almost too embarrassed to try, but I put on my best fake American accent, and asked again. No problem!

In addition, you guys have absolutely no idea, how to make Iced Coffee!

...and where IS Darren, anyway?

in a pub, drunk friend of mine turns to me and says 'double southern comfort' sounds like Donald Sutherland, after someone said they'd like one.

as he leaves to get the order in he says i better not ask the bar staff for a Donald Sutherland. guess what? yup he ordered a Donald Sutherland, much to the amusement of me and the bar staff Laughing

A similar situation with my Uncle, in a Fruedian slip, asked the BarGirl for a 'Harvey Leg Opener'! (instead of 'Harvey Wall Banger' in case anyone doesn't know the drink).

Reminds me of a night out in the bush. 5 or 6 of us, around the campfire. We've polished of the best of 3 bottles of Scotch, a couple of slabs of Beer, and a couple of us were now on kahlua and Coke!

Harvey turns to me and says 'What's the closest thing to the the Lone Rangers Bum?' Quick as a flash I answer 'Silver!'. We look at each other for a second, then it dawns on us that we've got the joke entirely 'round the wrong way! Both crack up laughing, I've forgot where I am, and go arse over backwards, off the 3 foot diameter tree trunk, flat onto a slab of concrete. At which point everyone cracks up.

Later that night I wake up. It freezing cold. I can see Dug next to me on the ground, asleep and shivering, covered in dew, in a foot of grass. I think that I really should do something for him...bugger that, I'm not getting out of this sleeping bag for no-one, and no bladder!

Near morning, sun not up, but the sky is light blue. This doesn't register with me as I try to spot (from my sleeping bag) the Fireworks I can hear going off. I keep searching the skies, but no luck. Back off to sleep for a bit. It dawns on me later, once I'm up - It's Duck Opening Day today! Not fireworks, Shotguns!

LOL.

just remembered i have a very similar one.

camping up at Glen Coe with friends, we came back from the pub and were having a bit of fun. one of the guys being all boring and astronimical says 'did u know that mars is the closet to the earth than it has been for a 1000 yrs', one of the other guys sitting on the ground, quick as a flash says 'no it isnt, mine is!' (mars = my arse (maybe it only works with a scots accent)), the rest of us fell about laughing.

also in the morning the camp owner came round to tell us that they were kicking us out of the camp site for keeping eveyrone awake by singing 'rock and roll aint noise polution' (good ol' acdc song, im sure u know) at 3 in the morning. again we all fell about laughing and i dont think the camp owner even saw the irony of the situation.

he did us a favour too, we found a much better camp site a mile up the road. Laughing
