Last night I went to watch the fish before lights out and I noticed one of my geos wasn't doing so well. I netted it and put it in the hospital tank.
Symptoms: Slow, deep breathing. Can't swim, it just twirls around the tank. Last night when I put it in the hospital ank I added pimafix and melafix. I thought it would be gone this morning, but it was still alive thank goodness. The belly is healthy, not bloated, not skinny. It had all of its color. All the other fish are doing great. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Swim bladder problems? I also did a 40-50 gallon water change on the 135.

Swimbadder obvious symptons are: usually the fish having difficulty in maintaining the position in water, and may also list to one side, float on one side or on its back at the water surface. Also fish with this tend to appear as though they look like they cant swim, so it could be. You said you did a water change was this before you moved the fish to the hospital tank or after ? This disorder can be triggered off by sudden changes in water temprature, but there are also other causes as well.
If you think it is a swimbladder disorder then you could try treating the fish in a shallow tank with a increase in temp of about 5 o C and carry on treating with an antibacterial med.
Hope this helps you out

I changed the water after I moved him to the hospital tank. I don't know what could have caused this. There is a hood on the tank now and the other fish are fine. I lost one seemingly to the same thing this one has. I'll try and get this one healthy again. Thanks Clunk. I'm going to do a little research on swimbladder problems.

Its possible that one of your other fish could have "bumped" him which can displace the swimbladder if "bumped" hard enough. It can also be caused by an infection, it is possibly one of the hardest ailments to work out what caused it Evil or Very Mad

What do you mean by 'twirl' ?

He hasn't damaged his spine ?

He would swim in a twirling/barrel roll motion. He died as I thought he would.

Hopefully I won't lose anymore fish because I now have a hood, whereas I didn't before.
