thought i'd show off a couple of pics of my young male BN munching one of his favourite algae wafers.

as can be seen in the pics his bristles are developing nicely. i am expecting/hoping he will grow more and develope a fine ol' beard.

No problems with the split in the fin ?

I've always read that this is a sign of ill health, but my Corys, and Bristlenose always seem to have the odd split, they come and go all the time.

that can be true i believe but in this instance i'm sure it's a sign of my male and female scrapping and/or the convicts having a go at him for getting too near the nest. my female has a few splits in her tail at the moment too but this is mostly or all from fighting with the convicts. it's kinda funny, the female BN doesnt like being told by the convicts where she can and cant be and she keeps battling with them.

i'm sure when things settle down and i can move the convicts too another tank the BNs fins will recover.

I would say the split fins is from in tank fighting, and so as long as its not major rips, then i would not class it as ill health, but having said that i would also keep an eye on the affected fish
