I hope this goes in the 'oddball' section, I couldn't figure it else
where.

A couple a specimens I came across in Kuala Lumpur. Apologies for the lighting.

That's three different tanks.

1. Public Aquarium, perhaps 2 or 3 times my tank, so maybe 750 litres ? It was spot lit, as you can probably tell, so I honestly don't know how far back it went.

2. Shop, standard 3 by 1.

3. Shop, standard 2 by 1. I think there may have been two in this tank.

A nice fish, once you take the time to have a proper look at them. I had a brief read-up, apparently a couple of the strains are CITES protected, due to their rarity.

Yup depending on which strain depends on how much as well, as i know that in the far east (japan especialy) a gold coloured one is classed as good luck and so commands a very hefty price, also as you say some are covered by CITES. I also know thet some of them in this country are microchipped due to the price Shocked
How much were they selling for over there or did you not notice ?

Nuh, not with these I didn't.

Some prices of other fishes I got, because it's on the tank glass, when I videoed. Otherwise, all I noted, was that prices were well below what we have here in Australia. And I'm talking 50% and less.

However, I didn't see the range of species that I'm accustomed to here.

How do you mean ? Do they have a bigger or smaller range ?

It seemed less of a range.

There wasn't much in the smaller breeds. I didn't see any Mollies, Bristlenose, Cory's, Neons, etc.

Most was, say Angel size, and up.

But, to be fair, there were several stores that looked very promising, but I was unable to fit in a visit.

That might have been it then, the shops you did get to only had a small selection, mind you they might have differing seasons for fish
