Ok, as it states. I got a got a black myster snail.. They do eat more then algae right? IT will eat fish flakes, spirulna.. other food particles that get put in and not eaten by the fish right? or have I doomed my snail to a horrible death?

Since, my tank has never gotten algae that I didnt purposely put in there myself ever.

Hi nice to see you back on the boards Very Happy Yes snails will eat more than algae, they will eat any left over food, or food that they can get to first they will also eat some plants, which is quite possible how it has got in to your tank, it will either be a trumpet snail or a ramshorn snail. Have a look

Hi, yeah back.. I lost the link to the place.. and just refound it.. and no I purposely bought the snail, to help clean the tank. I dont got nothing but plastic plants in the tank so far. I'm waiting awhile before I get a live plant, to make sure the tank is good and stable in all... And yeah, its a Mystery (apple) snail.. according to that link. Razz

Well i would have said it was an apple snail if you had bought it, as they tend to be the only ones offered for sale

I was being simplistic.. thats what they are sold at, at the pet store label reads 'Black Mystery Snail' .. sorry for not giving its latin name. Razz

No worries mate, you can rest easy in the knowledge that your snail will eat other food types. So no you have not condemed your snail to a horrible death
