Slightly flawed but a good little fish.
I wouldn't say he's flawed. The fin rays that extend passed the edge of the fin is good breeding stock. When I was breeding bettas I would look for males where the caudal, the anus and the dorsal fins made a nice round shape, the finrays extended passed the edge of the fin, very aggressive, big bubble nest, fins that looked like drapery.
His first and only lot of offspring Funky, while being good looking and wonderful coloured fish, all carried that uneven branching in their caudial....pity.
I have not bred Betta's since christmas Peter, when I decided to outfit a new fishroom. What started out as a 'few hundred dollars and she'll be right attitude' soon turned to the realization that it would cost a couple of thousand and many more weeks.....should be finished soon though.
When I'm set up I'll continue with Crowntails and Plakat's only, marble's....multicolour and full mask. Maybe the odd multicolour Veil. There is not a problem getting really good males here now, you pay a fair price what with shipping and all, but good quality females are more important and they are very hard to come by as no one releases them often enough.
The Guppy's will take up a fair bit of room with thirty odd tanks but there will be enough room for the Betta's and the Cichlids I'm hoping to get.
Yeah we are about a half hour from bendigo, in Maryborough.
