Blue eyed red fin plec-hypostomus soniae-L137 and the second one is a little harder to determine, but I'm going to take a shot in the dark without a good visual of the head. I say L007-vampire plec-leporacanthicus cf. galaxias? Gorgeous fish! |

Do you ever test the 'transport' water ?
Not that I ever do, but if the LFS had a dodgy tank, or even a contaminated bag, a bit of pre-existing stress, coupled with that of acclimatising to a whole new environment, may have been all that was needed.
I guess another aspect is: how long since arriving at the LFS ? The trip to there probably is not all that enjoyable. |

Must say no i have never tested the lfs water, probably because there is nothing that i could do to change it, i do ask what the ph is, if i am in area that i dont normaly buy fish from, mind you if the shop has x amount dead bodies (fish ones ) in the tanks then i just walk out. _________________ the only stupid questions are the ones you dont ask

Even my kids pick up on that one, which is good. Generally I find the 'Pet' stores are the one for bodies, and the teen staff they employ have little idea.
I don't buy from them anyway, I just have a quick look, as my two always drag me over so that they may pat the dogs and cats. _________________ Angels, Black Mollies, Bristlenose', Clown Loaches, Cory Aeneus, Gibby, Guppies, Hockey-stick Tetras, Keyhole Cichlids, Otocinclus. |

That was a rather nice looking fish tho'. Sorry, I didn't give myself the time it deserved before, to fully appreciate it. I must have still been jet-lagged.

You're probably right. Even with 'kid gloves' we can't expect every fish to be able to handle the regime. _________________ Angels, Black Mollies, Bristlenose', Clown Loaches, Cory Aeneus, Gibby, Guppies, Hockey-stick Tetras, Keyhole Cichlids, Otocinclus. |
