Hi and To the site
Both the fish are cichlids which is not my speciality, so will have a look in some books that i have and get back to you on this, but could do with a better picture of the second one if you can get it _________________ the only stupid questions are the ones you dont ask

ok. sorry my camera is poor quality and the second fish is very very shy. swims on mostly bottom to lower level and hides constantly.
I think the first is a Jack Dempsey but I am very unsure. The aquarium store told me that the first was a peacock bass and the second was a jack dempsey but I dont think either are peacock bass.

How big are the fish ? How long have you had them ? Still cant see the 2nd fish very well. Dont think the first is a jack dempsey, my first thought when i first looked was green terror Aquidens rivulatus and i still think along them lines _________________ the only stupid questions are the ones you dont ask

the second is soo hard to photograph, you walk close to the tank and he/she hides. I was looking on here and the first even kinda resembles a red texas I saw on here. I have had them for a few months both were really small when I got them. the first is about 5 inches and the second about three. First is very very dark in colors has kinda banded stripes on his body and a little blueish green spots near the head. first is always the first to feed, you walk up to the tank and he comes to greet you. so neat to watch, definently my favorite fish in the tank.
I wish my store here was a little more informative on the cichlids though.
Second fish is kinda yellowish green with red coloring.
Here I will try to take a couple more pics of the second fish when I feed.

First fish is a Jack Dempsey. I'm 110% sure of it. The second is a Jewel Cichlid and I'm 110% sure of that as well.

Glad I could help. Remember that african cichlids and south/central american cichlids shouldn't be mixed. |
