Yes. Otherwise I tend to worry quite a bit when they don't start eating within a couple of days.. |

Doesn't seem that beef heart would be on their menu in the wild, although neither would some of the other foods I feed. I don't want to use beef heart. I'll stick with other discus formulations from hikari and jack wattley. |

Yes there are a lot of things we feed our fish, that would not be in their diet in the wild, but then there is a lot of food in their diet in the wild we can not give them. So we can only see which of the differing foods on offer that they will thrive on. The reason i asked you about beef heart, is because many, many years ago when i kept discus, it was one of the foods that i used, along with bloodworm, daphnea, whiteworm, tubifex as well as the usual flake foods _________________ the only stupid questions are the ones you dont ask

I try to keep them on as varied a diet as possible. I haven't had any bloat problems with any fish for quite some time now. **Keeping my fingers crossed and knocking on wood.** |

Beef heart is the absolute BEST thing to get discus to grow. However, it is also the worst as far as fouling the tank is concerned. have to do lots of water changes frequently.
My secret Discus "contact" (importer/breeder) makes a lean ground beef mixture that my dicus LOVE - and it doesn't foul the water. The gorund beef & bloodworms is 99% of my discus' diets. _________________ Like Fish Forums?
