I have had this pleco for two years now but still don't know the exact species. People at Planet Catfish said it was a hypostomus, but that didn't help much. He is approx. 7 inches long. I have pictures at

the people at planetcatfish told you right bettina that was the actual name Hypostomus Plecostomus.... there is no other scientific name or name for it other than common pleco but that covers several species.... and although Hypostomus was the preverbial common pleco these days its one of the hardest to come across...usually when you get a common pleco now it is a p.pardilis

I did see a picture of a gibby once that looked very similar to my pleco, but I guess I'll never be sure of the exact species since he is a slightly different color and color pattern every time I see him. Oh well, it isn't doesn't matter if I don't know what he is. I guess he'll always just be my mystery pleco. Laughing

just from your pictures he is a hypostomus plecostomus,I have one just the same Very Happy

most deffinatly not a gibbiseps as the dorsal aint big enough plecsarebetta has indeed called it right with what they have said
