Now that it's begun, feel free to add any comments here.

All idea's will be considered. Just bear in mind there may be constraints due to the ForumUp environment, Bettina's preferred direction, maybe even stuff I've prepared, but not implemented.

I've suddenly found myself quite busy, so you may see little things just creeping in slowly as I make time. As is is, I've just wasted a day trying to figure why half my scripts work, and the other don't. Turns out, the only difference between the two, was the Host Server. Wish I'd spotted that one earlier!

The 'portholes' - I do plan to add an image to each, representing the Forum content. I have some ideas, but again, bring them on!

The centered colored Catagory Titles - Those are temporary. I plan to add some 'nifty' little Photoshop titles in there.

Buttons in the Forums - I'm still figuring that one out...

Is there any way to make the forum size a bit smaller? I have to scroll across to read the right side of the screen.

Thanks Guys.

But don't forget you can also add suggestions for new stuff.

I can fix that width. It's due to the length of the planted Title Bar. I had it shorter on the test site, but someone wanted it full length.

You guys still use low screen size, I gather. It looks ok on 1024x768.

Bare with me a couple of days, I'll figure out a nice compromise.

What, with all that L-Catalog in your head, there's no room for all this computer crap!

Um, I refer to the little dots on your screen, that makes up the image. Usually known as 'pixels'.

Not that long ago, a 'standard' screen resolution (size) was 640 vertical by 480 horizontal. Monitors were about 14" diagonal.

Monitors enlarged to 15", then 17". With 'Windows' upgrades, standard screen resolution when to 800 by 600.

More recently monitors went 19" and 21", and now there's a flood of 17" and 19" LCD screens available.

I haven't seen a computer running less than a resolution of 1024 by 768, in two years. Often it's even higher.

Essentially what happens, is that when you increase the resolution (adding more dots across your screen), you can fit on a larger screen image. The only time I need to scroll across to read Post's, is when you guys plonk in a big photo.

You remember there was an Orange Snail Shell thing that used to indicate a unread post? This is now a small rock, sitting on top of the flat rock. Does anyone agree that this doesn't really stand out? I'm thinking of maybe a spinning rock...?

And while I think of it. Does anyone have their screen go wacko, about half way down the Smilies collection? If it's a problem for anyone else, I'll try and rectify it. If it's just me, I won't bother.

Many people find the higher resolutions hard to read, as they're meant to be displayed on a larger monitor. But if you're ok with it, it's fantastic for internet use.

I've altered that planted Title Bar. No compromise at all, I just fixed it! I've tested it on a couple of screen settings. Let me know if there's still a problem.

Ok. Some people call it 'screen size', some (old school - like me) call it 'resolution'. A higher resolution, let's you cram more information onto the screen, hence individual items on the screen, like words, look smaller.

In Win2000 the sequence is:
Start Button \ Settings \ Control Panel,
Select the Display icon,
Click the Settings tab,

You should now have a little slider called Screen Area. You can zip it up or down, to change resolution.

Note, some monitors can't handle high resoultions. Don't worry if you lose your image, there's a 15 second dead man switch, that will revert to the old setting.

Also, some older Video Adaptor Cards inside your computer won't provide you with the High Res options, if they can't handle it. Sometime's they will give you High Res, but they reduce your colors to make up for it. You'll see a Colors setting there as well.

There is also the possibilty that your Video Card and Monitor are up to it, but Windows hasn't been configured properly with 'Video Drivers', and so you won't get the High Res options. But this is real fiddly shit!

=========================================================

I've had another thought on those rocks. There are three main status' on the Index Forums. New Posts, No New Posts, Locked.

Locked, I can have the Rock (a rock on top barr's the way)
New Posts, I thought the AB Logo Fish, splashing about.
No New Posts, uncertain, may just nothing - blank? A tuft of Grass, small Plant?

=========================================================

My Smiley page starts out ok, then I get long delays with that blank bit, and I lose control of all my Windows. Everythings flickering, I can't tell one Window from another, can't see any Windows controls or buttons! Takes me ages to shut that Smiley Window down, and even then, Windows overall is suspect, and it's worth a reboot.

I added some ideas for Category Titles out on the forum Index page.

Two 'watery' colors, each in normal Arial font, as well as 'rippled'. The dark ripple is 'stronger' than the light ripple.

Please provide some feedback, so I can whip up a full set. Ta !

You've all seen the recent addition of the Header and Footer. The former being updated again with our flags.

Just note the Footer;

The left 'Welcome' end, when clicked, returns you to the Forum Index page.

The right 'friendly Forum' end, brings up the recent posts list.

I've done something similar on the Support Forums, and have found this to save quite a bit of effort in navigating about.
