Hey all,

I have a small tank and I am willing to use it for small fry, eggs or even some Corydoras to breed. I was wondering, is 9" x 6" x 6" too small?

I think it's a bit small for adults. Most folk seem to think one female with two or three males is the go for breeding. It's probably borderline, but I personally think 3 or 4 adult Cory's in that space is unfair.

It'd be fine for the Fry, a good early grow-out tank. Although I use smaller floating enclosures from hatching, until they're about 2 weeks old.

There's a few good Cory Fry topics in this Catfish section, dated about early Jan '06.

way to small even for dwarf corys as kana says it would be alright to use to grow fry on but no good for a breeding tank

So you guys think I should move the eggs to the small tank, care for them, keep the fry there for a day or two and then move them?

You'll be able to keep the young in the small tank for several weeks. That won't be a problem. The actual duration will be dictated by how many hatch, and their growth rate.

Apart from being eaten, it's important they don't go back in with adult fish too soon, as they won't be able to compete for food, and they'll starve.
