Under "Community", between "Lounge", and "General", I thought we could have a 'Members Restricted' zone. I thought "Cocktail Lounge" as a title may fit with the placement (under Lounge), or "The Bar".
This area would not be readable by the Public. We could choose to have it readable by 'all' members, or just those deemed 'worthy'. If the latter, an 'access Group' would have to be created.
Now, the content. In recent discussion about Biotopes, and Health & Disease Diagnostics, it seemed pertinant to post an image from a text. Of course making such visible in a Public area, is a real problem with copyright.
A restricted zone would allow us to post such material, on a temporary basis, and link it back to the Public topic areas. Personally, I don't see this as being any different, to asking one of you from down the road, to 'pop 'round and take a look at my book, see what you think...'

reading this post i coulnt help wonder where it was leading, lol, but u make a good point.
one way around copyright would be to post links to images rather than post the images themselves, but a members only area might work. i am not sure though if this would still be an infringment of copyrights.

Good idea. How would the members be picked if we only had specific members alowed there? I'll make one open to all members for now.
Maybe it could be called "The Club" or "The Club: Members only"

All Members is fine for now, especially if non-Members can't even see the Section Title on the Main Index. I was initially worried that we'd have people signing up just to see what was in there. And then never posting.
As to the other part of your question, selection would obviously be those that regularly post. Not too hard to work out. And by PM request to the Administrator.
Speaking of Posting, half of our Members are non-posters... Perhaps in the future we have something like a 6 month redundancy clause. If you're still at Zero Posts 6 months after registering, your account is purged.

Not directly, Funky! Please don't think I'm shitty with you at all. You just made me aware of an element I'd overlooked.
First up, I've posted a sticky in there.
Secondly A. I think it's better if everyone has their own Reference Topic because they can edit, and alter it as they like. eg: update the image, update the text. Even if just for thier own preferences. At any time.
Secondly B. Locking the Reference Topics, will require a Mod or Admin Member to make any changes, additions, on request.
This setup is not just for me, as a Moderator, or as a Member. It's for everyone. I will certainly make use of it, that's why I made the proposal. I hope others will realise it's usefulness as a Forum Tool.

The Forum this thread refers to, ended up being named "The Club". The Cardinal Tetras are swimming nearby.

I'm not sure what you mean? Are you saying you need to re-login for each Forum section?
A few hours ago, I was stuffing about while you were on, trying to fix some coding that mysteriously stopped working. Maybe it's all related.
Give me more detail, and let me know if it continues.
normaly when i come on site i dont need to log in but the last couple of times i have had to log on i have also noticed that the time is well out sometimes by a fair few hours
icould'nt find the club & i was looking for the cardinals swimming by as i remembered that part of it so at least you know it works have just checked i can see the club ( & the cardinals ) again
