The Red plants are a bit of a bugger for light. I don't know what of my pics you've seen, but encroaching Algae doesn't do much for a slow growing red.

There's a thread with Fishy's tank. He has a hybrid red/green. It's a good grower, requires less light, but shows plenty of red. I'm gunna have to look for it, as I've forgotten the name...

I thought so, I remember reading somewhere that reds require more light. I'm planning on hardy plants that require medium light, if I ever do convert to live plants...

i think its not just light ithink its what type of light you use also & at what depth you need to get the light to reach i think fishypaw should be able to shed some more light (no pun intended) on this for you

You are right. They do react to slightly different wavelengths of light.

Funny you ask this now. As of late I have been having ammonia & ph problems. Ammonia keeps going up and ph keeps going down. I'm going to tell more about it in another thread.

LOL I lost my BN pleco a couple of months ago, and although I loved him, I don't think I'll get another pleco because he pooped a LOT!

I wish my plants would grow like Funky's, sometimes!

This tank's like a short-arse version of your 55. I'm gunna go looking for your 135, see if the trend contimues...
