I'm toying with the idea of placing tiny Flags of the World, just under the scrolling text for "Welcome to the lounge".

They may help to attract visitors eyes to that area. They're animated, and small enough not to be intrusive.

I figure a flag only for those countries from which we have currently active members. Right now that's 5 flags. Sequenced in order of joining members.

They are free to us if we mention they came from "

Only registered users can see links on this forum! Register or Login on forum!

". They come in 3 sizes, either Waving, or flat Static.

I may wait until I've tidied up the Front Page a bit. I need to optimize my coding, to reduce all those little delays, caused by replacing and inserting so many images.

Because I only did a 'sample' on my test site, I didn't realise the impact it would have, on such a large page like AB's Forum Index.

But I put it to you, Mr Clunkster, that the reason you saw this post, was because I had Stickied it only yesterday, as a reminder to myself.

I had a the stupid idea that I might be able to arrange them up above the Site Menu. That would be a good indicator that we're here for everyone.

Now I just have to figure out how to do it...

The flags need updating. Our newest member ORCA is from Africa, so maybe someone should ask what country, so a flag can be put up.

I think a flag of a members country in the left below the members name is a great idea.

We also have a member from india, and if memory serves me right i think its south africa that ORCA is from. Funky may have hit on a good idea about placing the flag with the members location, as and when we run out of space on the title page

You mean in the Users details area ?

That'd be good, but would take some thinking. The Rank Image slot is in use, as is the Avatar. If I could work a way to convert a text link, into an image link, it could go where the "Back to top" is.


As to the Index page, I've learnt enough tricks now, that running out of space will never be a worry.


Re: more Flags. I'm happy to put a couple more up. I'd like to feel they've been earnt. eg a nice steady input of posts. Just let me know. (Bare in mind, I'm online for 3 more days, then nothing 'til Jan).

Personaly i like the flags where they are, yes it would also be nice to see them in the profile area as well but not a major concern. As its not a major worry about running out of space then it would be nice to add new ones, as they are earned by active members, also it shows the site to be multi national
