Yeah, looks fine.

The watermarking etc. We didn't cover that in depth. There's a couple of methods.

Watermark can be a vague word or logo that's transparent, across a large portion of the image. Generally intersecting a 'core' part of the image to deter image plagurism.

The acreditation is usually an easily visible line of text off toward the image edge. Obviously the Photographers name. Watermarking as above, deters just 'trimming' off the Photographers name.

So we have Watermark, and Acreditation. Do we do both as the Photographer. Or one Photographer, with one 'Aquatic Babble'?

My thoughts right now are: An Aquatic Babble watermark, depicting a line drawn version of our Logo Fish. (I will now have to create!) A very light pale transparency. With a nice neat Photographers Credit, at bottom left, perhaps in our green tone post colors.

Are we using Membership 'handles' for names? Or just decide Member to Member as we go?

question:
is it better having the photos as thumbnails or would it be better having them big scale ?
also how are we going to copyright them ?

I was was intending to copy the profile images onto Babbles host site, after adding credits and watermark. I can adjust images to a uniform size during this process. I haven't chosen an actual final size, but the larger the original, the better that is to work with.

Another reason for having AB copies of the Profile images, is that if a member, for whatever reason, shuts down their image host account, we don't suddenly find ourselves short of 50 pics.

Of course if they no longer want us to use them, that's a different matter.

I've added one for Tetras.. And I think I'm near on a reasonable layout. Besides images, there's five blocks of data.

1. Naming block - Who is this fish.
2. Habitat block - Environmental parameters.
3. Profile block - Fish parameters and behaviour.
4. Reproduction block - Breeding notes.
5. Additional block - Any other comments to tie it up.

Block 3, the Profile handles quite a bit. Besides Size, and Feeding, it'll cover Temperament, Swim level, preferred tank layout (rocks, caves, plants, sand), group dynamics, etc.

I'm hoping to have reached a design that presents the info well, but has minimal effort required in compilation. And of course can be cut & paste from one to the next, as a template, for ease of use. I'm going through my old multi-media stuff, for a Globe / Map of the world. I'd like to have a small icon, that perhaps shades an area of the relevant continent, with the habitat detail.

Species: Species name.
Synonym: Also known as.
Common Name: Common name
Family: Family name.

Habitat: Streams in Brazil, South America.
Water parameters: (values where known)
Temp: 22.5 - 26.5°c (73 - 80° F)
PH: Slightly acidic.
Hardness: Soft

[image] [image]

Size: 7.5cm, 3”.
Behaviour: A generally peaceful fish. Mid to upper level swimmer. Enjoys a densely planted aquarium. Will group and shoal for protection.
Feeding: Omnivorous. Dried food, Tubifex, water fleas, etc.

Reproduction: Egg laying, deposited on the leaves of plants. Sexing and behaviour. Eggs hatching.

[image] [image]

Comments: Any.

If you think this format is workable, and you don't mind changing it yourself.

As soon as I sort a couple of other things, I'll try and come back to a couple more profiles.

Cut & Paste version:

I've just thrown together a couple of ideas for the Habitat Region, to go in with the species profiles. I have two sizes, Arrows, Circles, or Spots.

Any thoughts ?

Bare in mind, it has to appear in each profile. I thought the little one would be placed high, under the Names, and above the Habitat detail. (see the template above).

The large version would need to go under the Habitat detail, in line with the fish pics. I could place circles on the small one.

What I can do, is set up a couple of the profiles, as a demo.
