It's because of the other fish, that I'm thinking a pair would do. They're all going to need their space. 4 Angels, 2 Keyholes, and 2 Cockatoo's, should suffice for Cichlids.
My breeding Bristlenose don't like interlopers in their hidy holes. Although the Cory's don't seem to mind sharing their cave with the Keyholes.
But when I go up bush next weekend, I'll check out the creek for some good wood. Hopefully there'll be some that's spent a few years in the damp. I'm not sure if Bristlenose would have a taste for Eucalyptus.
Kana3, the male cockatoo will probably get too aggressive with one female. The male will want to breed even though she has a clutch of eggs. In the end the male will wind up killing her due to her unreadiness to breed. Agassiz cichlids are beautiful and not very aggressive. If you can find an affordable pair I would recommend them. Though I don't know how easy it is to breed these cichlids.
Fishypaw, a 10 gallon would be too small for a breeding pair of convicts. I would recommend no less than a 20 gallon for a breeding pair. These fish can get quite big if fed and taken care of well and will need a little room so they don't get on each others nerves.

It's gunna be a busy tank. But if my filter's up to it, I've no real qualms about extra Cockatoo Females. Perhaps we piss the Guppies off to a Room Temp Tank.

i will definatly let hem know what you think, he is the largest gramma dealer in the world, and practicaly famous, but only does it because he loves the fish, he would appreciate the compliment. Mail order fish is scarey, but sometimes you have too, especially with gramma, you will never find them in a LFS.

We have a local commercial Cichlid breeder here. Though I must admit, I have no idea what species they have. I've been talking about giving them a vist for six months, but still haven't done it.
