After reading kanas post about line breeding her guppies, it made me want some again so i went out and bought 1 beautiful male and two sister females of a color i like. My wife texted me just now saying that my male has pretty much lost all of his tail, and in that instance i knew who the culprit was. That stupid little gouramis i didn't want in the first place. Arhhhggg!!!!!!! The guppies are still getting acclimated and are hangin around the top of the tank still, wich is gouramis territory and he nipped his tail off. Now i have nothing to do with him, if i put in in the tank with the cichlids he is a prime target, and those guys are killers. So now i have to find a new home for a bad little gouramis! I otta make him walk the plank!!! Wonder if my lfs will take em? _________________

 yup, snigger.
if ur lucky, then ur LFS will give u 30-50% of the price they sell the fish at. mine usualy gives me 50%
if i was u Billy, i'd be tempted to try the guppies in with the chiclids. chiclids tend to use the bottom of the tank where as the guppies will generally stay to the top. hence the guppies might be safe. gourami's can be bad for tail nipping and unlike the chiclids they swim at all levels. _________________ 6 tanks from 40g - 6g

These damn stocking keep riding up! Paging Mr Izzard !
My Daughter is the Guppy Breeder.
You only want the Male for his ol' fella anyway.
What do the Gourami's do when he's not so showy? Do they ease off? _________________ Angels, Black Mollies, Bristlenose', Clown Loaches, Cory Aeneus, Gibby, Guppies, Hockey-stick Tetras, Keyhole Cichlids, Otocinclus. |

So sorry Kana, guess didn't catch the daughter part of the line breeding and figured you were the she. Hahahahaha. Sorry but i am LMAO. And if you are talking about Eddie Izzard that man is brilliant, the executive transvestite. Um and as far as the guppies with my cichlids i have south american cichlids not africans, these guys are not bottom dwellers per say they are river fish and will eagerly gobble up any guppie, especially the midas, He is 6 inches of pure attitude and is what you call a hyperterritorial apex predator and has eaten two of my beunos aires tetras at 3 inches (not whole mind you. He will wait till they bunch up then rush out and catch one with a killer blow to the side and push it the bottom and strip it clean). Its gonna be real fun when he gets a full 16 inches, My guppies wouldnt last ten minutes, heck even africans (being the most aggressive of ALL cichlids and true bottom dwellers) wouldn't tolerate them, they don't even hang well with dither fish of good size, besides the water requirements for afries and guppies is completely different. Unfortunatly the male guppied dies last night with 7.2 ph, amm 0 nitrite 0 nitrate .10 so i'm chalking it up to stress. The gouramis wasn't showing off, more like the guppies were acclimating to the new tank and hanging around the top, and that is all gouramis territory, so i am thinking it was a territory issue and the male got cornerned. The gouramis will nip at anything and everything but ones at top will get it worse, and i think he got the guppy cornered. I have only ever seen diliberate aggression with out territory issues comming from My RedDevil(midas hybrid), Jugaurs, Wolf, and Pike, and Hardwater african cichlids, and brackish puffers, those things are just mean. And I don't want money or credit for the gouramis i just want him out of the livebearer tank, but if he goes in my south american tank he WILL be killed and that aint cool. To maybe put this in perspective my south american fish attack my syphon hose! And try to nip my daughters little fingers thru the glass, My midas has rushed my hands (and got a thump on the head). Sorry for the long post. _________________

piccies?? I don't like sticking my hand in there cuz even the tetras nip, but sonny is a butthead and likes to undermine my aquascaping. He will move anything he can fit in his mouth, up root plants, and even dig under rocks to make them fall. This guy almost has too much personality . Ooooohhh I finnally got my new dell and i will have the net up on tuesday so that means PICS!!!!!! Thats if i can get a decent pic. That is proving very difficult. I did get another male guppy and gave the gouramis to my friend, he as a female so he is going to try and breed. And the male i got is just plain pretty. Fingers crossed for babies! _________________
