This weird condition that my L190 has had for about a month now still has me puzzled. He isn't hiding as much (which makes me feel a little more comfortable), I haven't seen him eat in a month (he must be eating something to still be alive), nothing wrong with his body; i.e. fungus, sores or dicoloration, he continues to breathe rapidly and doesn't suck onto the wood as he used to. He sits on a piece of wood, near the middle-bottom of the tank in the current gasping. This is driving me nuts. The water is ok; ammonia-0, nitrite-0, nitrate-5-10, ph-7.4-7.6, temp-80-82. I need to test for gh and kh, but I don't think that is the problem because I have some crushed coral in the filter.

Tis indeed a strange one, as you say he must be eating, whats the belly like, are you putting enough oxygen in to the water ? The temps not too high is it ?

He has been kept at this temp since I have had him. I tried lowering the temp with no result. I have an 802 powerhead being fed by an Optima pump. There is plenty of oygen in the water. Surface agitation is an Emperor 400 and a Magnum 350. Other current provided by another 802 powerhead on the opposite side and a 501 powerhead in the middle of the tank.

I was wondering age, but most fish tend to up go almost overnight, not hang about for a month.

He hasn't swallowed something he shouldn't have ? Impeded eating and breathing ?

Can you see anything on the gills ?

I look at him everyday to see if there is something on him. I haven't seen anything on the gills. On another forum somebody said it could be ick on the gills. That would be very hard to see. I may just treat the 135 gallon for ick and be done with it. Might cost a little bit of money, but at least my fish will live.

No. This is the one that has had the least amount of problems. The other 2 (29 gallon and 50 gallon) are the ones I keep losing fish in. The only fish I lost out of the 135 gallon is the longfin BN.

Right, so tis a strange one, it might be that the ich has got on the gill filiments, but to last for a month, which tank was it that you had the pH problem in ?. How long have you had this fish ?

Ph problems were in the 29 gallon and the 50 gallon in March I believe. I have had this guy since Feb.-Mar. This is the first time I have seen him like this.

He got ick again. I'm going to treat the 135 gallon and kill it altogether this time. Hopefully this will cure him of his odd behavior.

Gill Maggots, or Ergasilus.

Gill Disease, Gill Fungus, Gill Flukes, generally have your symptoms. Lying motionless, off the feed, rapid gill movement, maybe swollen and/or inflamed gills.
