My two new rubbernose ended up with ick So i cleared out my killie, rainbow, angel, two valisneira, ludwigia, and bacopa to the 55 gallon, to administer treatment. Well my angel looked a little lonely in the big tank so i decided to get it a friend. I will get a picture up as soon as possible. I don't even know what kinda it is. It is pretty though. LOL. Oh and one of the rubbernose died this morning.

The other rubber died too. I think it was a combination of the ich and the ich meds caused a degradation of aerobic bacteria wich caused an ammonia spike, Yay for me. Now all the fish in their are freeking out. Good things i got the sensitive ones out. Oh it killed my otto kitty too. So i did two water changes, hoping the plants start consuming more, and raised the temp and dosed with salt. I am never using ich meds again. Strict heat and salt bath from now on. I will get a pic of the new angel soon.

Sorry to hear that you have lost both the rubbernose's and the otto Not good. Must admit one of the first things i do if i get ich is raise the temp in the tank, i only use meds if i have to

Could quite be possible, as one of the first things i was told when i got in the hobby was to raise the temp to about 90f for a couple of hours over a few days (providing the fish can withstand the temp) Thankfully i have not had an outbreak for a very long time

I hate to encourage anyone to jack the temp up to 90f - but it does work.
I had a touch of ich in my Discus tank. As you know Discus are particularly sensitive & fragile fish. I put it up to 92f (as they like water in the upper 80's anyway) and it melted off in a couple days.
So I guess when it's all said & done I would reluctantly tell you to cautiously raise it a few degrees at a time to 90f - checking how they are acting along the way.
You might want to feed a tad more during that time, too as the higher temp will boost their metabolism. How does that go? "Starve a fever & feed the ich?" Something like that.

The raising the heat should only be for a few hours at a time, not constantly, and be done for about 5 days. Whenever i buy new fish i look for any obvious problems with all the fish in the tank, and only when i am satisfied that all is well will i make my purchase
