Yesterday I was feeding my wifes fish and noticed that one of the female swordtails has become a male swordtail. I knew it could happen, but I have never had it happen in one of my tanks. I got the 2 female swordtails 4-5 months ago. Last month the one male swordtail died. I thought the male platys would be able to take care of them. I guess not. Will he/she be able to reproduce?

That's the last time I ask you to sex my kittens !!

It's amazing though. I remember reading about it years ago, all but forgotten now. I don't see why they wouldn't be able to reproduce, otherwise why have the feature ?

Here's the real question - How did they know which fish was to change ? Draw straws ? Last one to the Heater and back ? 'Damn, now I have to grow a bloody penis!' Mad

Finally somebody responds. I think the dominant female goes transexual. I see shim courting the other females.

Hi guys, what an interesting thing. I didn't know about it until today when I went through this topic. It sounds unbelievable.

Do you (anyone) have any links or whatever on this topic? I would like to learn more about it Smile .
