hi...

i had gone to the LFS yesterday and the LFS guy gifted me 4 peacock eels for a local festival....

i have kept them in the 75 g and transfered the cories and betta to the 10 g just to be safe.....

i tried researching bout them...i got a variety of answers bout their size..sum sites say that they grow to be 9 inches while some sites say 12 inches and sum sites say 24 inches...what is correct?? what do i feed them??

Peacock eels are cool. I had one, but my fire eel (still have him) killed him. I believe that if you have more than one eel in a tank they will eventually kill each other off. Mine did that. I only have one eel now. They grow from 9-12 inches, depending on what you feed them. I hand feed my fire eel blood worms. He loves them. When they get bigger, you can feed them worms (which i heard). There mouths are so small, so i find that hard to believe. Just don't over feed them, or give them food that is bulky. I heard that eels often choke on their own food (and can die), and that is why i stick with bloodworms. Be careful, and keep your tank clean. Peacock eels can be sensitive to harsh water conditions. I hope this helps, but keep searching the internet.................the best source of information.

The Peacock Eel, or Macrognathus siamensis, is originally from Thailand.
