Interesting how different similar fish's tastes can be.

My BN's, Clowns & Gold Nugget all LOVE zuchinni, spirulina disks, and shrimp pellets. They totally ignore green beans of any variety - and from what I read most plecs love them.

I'll have to try some of those others for variety. Great post - very interesting.

The trick is to give every thing a try, that way you will find out what your fish will eat Wink

Not just a try, but try it a couple of times. If the fish aren't used to the smell, the taste or the look of new food, they won't pay much attention to it because they are unsure. If you try it a more than once they know it is ok and it is in fact food for them. When I put sweet potato in with my L190 he would bat it with his tail. I notice alot of plecs will do this at first to make sure it is safe to put their face on it.

My first try at pear wasn't really that much of a success.

That little suction clip of yours, Clunk, did you nick it from the bathroom ?

Right. I often see that sort of thing in the cheapo knick-knack shops that the Chinese seem big on, sold as a kitchen / bathroom item. Never seen one in an Aquarium outlet.

I wouldn't feed fresh beans here, unless I grew them myself. Being a farm-boy, and having immersed myself in insecticide on several occasions (accidentally), I guess that may be why I have an acute sense to it, and can always taste a significant quantity on beans, that I don't pick up on, with most other veges.

I suspect beans may absorb the chemicals to a greater degree due to some attribute of their dermal membrane.
