unfortunatly some unscrupulus people do put their "nice little fish" that has out grown their tank in to the local waterways on more than one occasion, as this link shows

so think about that next cute little fish you buy how big will it grow and can you realy house in its adult shape ? if not do you know where you can take it apart from the local waterways, where it is quite capable of surviving

Certainly is a savage looking fish. That particular one seems to have a strange shaped head.

I keep reading that the furiousness of the Piranha is highly exaggerated, due to Hollywood etc. And that the prohibitions on that fish are largely based on that perception.

I was really surprised to see those Suckermouths doing ok (as a pest). Probably in the more southern States I'd assume, where it's warmer.

European Carp is our #1 introduced pest fish.

Revival of old topics. Over the thanksgiving weekend, I saw my first full grown Pacu in a petshop tank. Was about 75 gallon long, housed with about 20 other fish. But this was the biggest fresh fish I ever saw. The thing was easily 3 foot long and almost that tall. It was ginormous and wow. Felt so sorry for the thing, as it like couldn't turn around in the tank. Have no clue how the heck you could even move something tha tbig...

As well I saw several HUGE pleco's at several different places. One was in the same tank as the Pacu. Both 20"s + in size. Man them things get huge.
