Perhaps I should look at throwing a few in with my algae. They'd never go short of a feed.
Any problems between fishes and shrimp ? I'm wondering how my Angels would treat them. _________________ Angels, Black Mollies, Bristlenose', Clown Loaches, Cory Aeneus, Gibby, Guppies, Hockey-stick Tetras, Keyhole Cichlids, Otocinclus. |

I keep 12 "bamboo" shrimp (I call them Singapore shrimp, but they have many common names). They are completely harmless to other fish and shrimp in the aquarium. It's best if you house them with other fish and shrimp that won't pester them to death (literally). It's believed that they live for about 3 to 5 years. They are ALL wild caught, so don't let anyone tell you differently. I am currently working to raise them in captivity.
I'm also itching to get some African filter shrimp!

from experience, i have found that angels and shrimps dont mix. i had a couple of shrimps in my 40 gal tank with 2 angels and they seemed to survive but when i put the angels in the 30 gal tank they munched most of the 'easier to catch' shrimps.
i recon shrimps are harmless to other fish but i get the feeling they make a tastey snack for larger cichlids. hence i dont mix shrimps with my new convicts either.
i love my shrimps. fun to watch and great at helping to keep the tank clean. eating lots of algae and will even go through detritis looking for undigested food bits and thus again help with
keeping the tank clean. |
