|
|
I have a 10 gallon bow front tank that I am restocking.
Filter: Eheim Aquaball-I’m not sure the size name but it’s the second biggest
Water Changes: fortnightly
Ph: 6.8
Plants/Décor: heavily planted with bogwood
Fish:
-1 peppermint bristle nose (small)
-2 otocinclus
I was thinking of adding some rummy-nose tetras, would they be suitable? Any other ideas welcome!
Thanks _________________ ~Fish Addict~

sounds ok to me.
reminders ...
cycle the tank. use old tank water, gravel and filter material if u can - to speed things up.
inch per gallon rule (based on adult size) - 10 gal tank can hold about 10 inches of fish when new, about 20 inches if its atleast 6 months matture.
good luck and let us know how u get on _________________ 6 tanks from 40g - 6g

A nice school of rummy-nose tetras should set the tank of nicely, and you should have no problems with the mix, mind you could get away with any of the smaller sized tetras _________________ the only stupid questions are the ones you dont ask

Thanks, the tanks been running for a few years now, so I don't need to cycle it or anything. Will this be ok then:
1 PBN
2 otos
6 rummy-nose tetras _________________ ~Fish Addict~

I went to my LFS and saw some fish that made me think more...
( I already have)
1 Peppermint Bristlenose
2 Otocinclus Catfish
I have new 3 options:
1) At the aquarium they have a pair of Maldive Kribensis. They are much more colourful than the regular (Pulcher) and the female is the more dominant of the two.
I was wondering if they would get too aggressive in a small tank, and if they would hurt the otos or BN. Would this tank be too small to house the pair of them?
OR
2) A school of about 6-8 very brightly coloured and active tetras. I decided I'm sick of the black and silver tetras. I only want them if there is some that are very colourful and interesting...Any new suggestions?
OR
3) A pair of either Blue Rams or Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids. Would they get too aggressive in the small tank if they decided to breed?
Thanks so much! _________________ ~Fish Addict~

i agree with clunk, best to stay away from breeding pairs and cichlids (due to agression) in a 10g tank unless it is just for them. for a community tank i would definitely think of a small shoal of any of the smaller tetras.
u could even consider a couple of Amano shrimps (Caridina japonica) as they are funny to watch and great at helping keep the tank clean of both dirt and algae.
would be nice to see a pic of ur tank if u have any or can take one. _________________ 6 tanks from 40g - 6g

Nice tank. The 'Lost City of Atlantis' look !
I think a group of 7-10. As you suggest, those with a color.
Cochu Blues. - A subtle look.
Lemons. - Would look very good in that tank.
Emperors. - They get a nice pink.
Bleeding Hearts - A bit larger, so perhaps a few less. More $'s too. _________________ Angels, Black Mollies, Bristlenose', Clown Loaches, Cory Aeneus, Gibby, Guppies, Hockey-stick Tetras, Keyhole Cichlids, Otocinclus. |

6-8, I guess. As long as they don't seem too crowded. _________________ Angels, Black Mollies, Bristlenose', Clown Loaches, Cory Aeneus, Gibby, Guppies, Hockey-stick Tetras, Keyhole Cichlids, Otocinclus. |

thanks for including a pic. i like it, nice looking tank.
according to web info bleeding hearts tetras adult size is about 2.5 inches, which is quite big compared to some tetras. with this in mind i'd suggest 6 might be a good mumber to go for.
again good luck and let us know how u get on. _________________ 6 tanks from 40g - 6g
