We also have a thing here, I think it called 'Employment Insurance', or perhaps 'Income Protection'. It's essentially the same sort of thing. If you're incapacitated to an extent that you can't work, this thing pays your wage for whatever amount of time. I don't know the exact specs.

It seems more a Private Sector thing, than Public Service.

Yes we have insurance policys over here that do that, such as the mortgage protection one that i have Wink
