Ok, all you Loach keepers...What sort of food do your Clown Loaches prefer to eat?

Here are the two new arrivals, at Aus $12 each. And don't they love sniffing around the tank. I love watching the Fishes reaction to a fish they've never encountered. These two cruised across, right in the face of my two large Angels. I'd swear the Angels had the look of Stunned Incredulousness! (that IS a word, I looked it up!).



Oh, and Clunkster, the Valentines gift went down a treat! So there's a tip for you, for next year...

Those are soooo adorable! My loaches go nuts over peas and frozen silversides. I break off a bit of silverside from the frozen hunk and cut a couple of scores in it and drop it in the tank. It's always a huge tug-of-war game! Aside from flaked food, I also feed them freeze-dried bloodworms and tubifex. I haven't bought any of the frozen worms because I'm worried about parasites. One of these days I'm going to buy some frozen brine shrimp. Oh, and they also like those dried shrimp pellets, dried seaweed (sushi seaweed), and algae wafers.

Oh, I forgot, loaches' favorite food: pond snails! The other day I finally got ahold of one to breed in my 10-gallon. When the population gets kind of big, I'll net some out and stick them in the loach tank. Loaches are snail-eating machines!

i feed my loaches on prawns (which they love) bloodworm fresh & frozen lance fish catfish pellets & have also given them crabstics they will also eat flake food so as you can see they get a variaty of foods

The Catfish pellets and wafers, my other fish get anyway, and the flakes. Snails, I've a supply of those in the small tank. (but knew that one).

Prawns, that is interesting. No shortage of Seafood here! Are they fresh? Cooked? Out of the tin?

Silverside is another interesting one. Haven't had that since I was a kid. Pot boiled Beef from memory? I'm wary about putting meat in the tank, I guess it's extremely small quantity, and also soft, for digestion?

I think they'd enjoy beef but I've never tried that with my fish. Kinda scared to. LOL

Hang on Kristin! Wasn't it you who mentioned Silverside? What is "frozen Silverside" in your part of the world?

Or did you mean 'Silverbeet'? (a vegetable)

I use frozen prawns (defrosted first) that have been cooked & peeled i have also on occasion used beef heart & have also seen them eat pottatoe that i have put in for some of my catfish i think you will find that loaches will try just about any thing

Ah! 'Silverside' here is beef, sort of pickled / boiled in a pot. Quite yummy, but I haven't had any since I was a kid. I'll have to get the recipe of Mum when She pop's in tomorrow...

Wow, culture shock! That makes more sense. I was having a hard time imagining people eating those slimy little fish, but then I thought that maybe they get bigger than they are when they're packaged. LOL
