i did notice that chilcids are in the risk group which kinda confirms what i suspect. thanks again for posting the pics.
the pumkin thing is very interesting and definitely worth a try. trouble is just now the angel is not eating. the worm treatment i bought shouild arrive tomorrow, hopefully this will do the trick.
i will get some pumkin seeds tho and try them at a later date

Having just been involved in Fish Forums for about 10 weeks, it get's me how this sort of thing happens to fish. I'm not sure what you've introduced recently, but it seems to me, that's when Disease should (if so) rear it's head. Isn't that the reason for having Quarantine tanks?
But I've seen a few instances on PC, the same thing. Just out of no-where, this fish has 'Freddled Grunt-Bugglies'! And some of them are reasonably contagious. So this fish comes along, plopped in the Tank. Swimming around happily for a few months, but you've never picked up on that little 'tick-tick-ticking' sound, coming from inside! Next thing, your tank is awash with bodies and mayhem, sirens, screams, Mothers cradling the small lifeless...um.. I might finish there...

my worm treatment arrived today. i did a 50% water change and then added the correct dose. the water change was partly due to treating the tank 5 days ago with anti bacterial, saying that the wormer instructions said it is safe to use with any other treatment. 1st thing i noticed is that worm med turned the water very cloudy and that it seemed to have a bit of a laxative effect as i noticed that almost all my fish had a poo within minutes of the med going in. the important fish, the sick angel hasnt pooed yet, but i am keeping an eye on it as i have read that about an hour after the treatment it may pass whatever worms it has. just now it seems to be releasing a white trail like before but this time a bit thicker than before. i am not sure if this is a worm or not.
the rams seem to be ok-ish, swimming about and eating as normal and havent developed any more bumps and the existing bumps dont seem any worse, possibly better. apart from the small ram that developed the 1st bump. it still has a 'large' lump on its gill plate, about 2-3mm across. aslong as it gets no worse and it is Lymphocystis like i suspect, then i am hoping it will be well again in about 3-4 weeks when the disease should have run its course.
i know what u mean with ticking time bomb, seen it happen, but to be honest this outbreak is probably partly my fault. i have introduced quite a few new fish over the last month. plus i didnt quarantine my fish properly. mainly because i just didnt have room plus i was being a little lazy and trusting to luck and that the LFS has been fairly good so far at providing healthy fish.
i am thinking of getting another 5 - 10 gal tank to use solely as a quarantine tank. altho i am already running out of room here. plus if i do get another tank i have to resist the temptation not to just use it as another 'fish' tank.
ho hum, the joys of being a fish addict

my larger angel fish that wasnt eating finaly ate tonight for the 1st time in over a week, YEEAAAAAAAH!
apart from not eating it looks fine but i was worried, hopefully the wormer or anti bac has fixed whatever the problem is.
2 of the rams still show signs of Lymphocystis but it hasnt got worse and the fish are still eating and swimming ok, so hopefully they will fully recover in 2-3 weeks.
my rams and angels are precious to me, if i lost them i'd be v sad
fingers crossed i think i am over the worst tho

You didn't see any Worm from the Angel?
no. i may have missed it as the angel was spending most of the time in the corners of the tank. i think this is a shy angel in general as it took it a little bit to settle in unlike the 1st angel. tonight though it is roaming about a bit looking for food, which is a good sign.

last night i found the little ram that had developed the 'pimple' had died
thankfully the other rams look ok. the largest of the 3 young rams still has some minor white bumps but the fish seems fine and i think/hope it will do ok and recover. my larger newer angel seems to have recovered too, the wormer may have helped with that.
on a positive note, the young female ram has bred with one of the older larger males, unfortunately its in the community tank so the babies probably wont survive but it means i can put her in the 10g tank later and hopefully breed successfully with her. plus as i have said in another post today my large female shrimp has given birth to lots of baby shrimps in my 10g tank this morning

i thought of syphoning the eggs up but i didnt really have anywhere to put them. the male ram did a good job of fighting off the other fish but unfortunately the tiger loach got the better of him, persistent fat little runt that it is. if the shrimps do ok and grow i will try puting the rams in the 10g tank when i've removed the shrimps.
