Voting
Voting for Aquatic Babble ensures that our Banner is displayed in a prominent position, thus giving us more exposure. It also indicates to others, that this site has something of value to offer.
But to keep our Banner in view, requires regular voting. We've done well to hit #1 on a few occasions (thank you, Clunkster), but letting go of the reins only ensures we drift back into obscurity.
That would be a shame. We've slowly nibbled away at implementing many good suggestions during this year, and the ball is rolling again:
-> Expansion of the Species Profiles;
-> Structuring the Photo of the Month;
-> Dedicated D.I.Y, and L.F.S areas;
-> Our soon to be revealed FAQ & Reference section.
And certainly not least of all, the cultivation of a relaxed and friendly environment, where everyone is interested, and respectful of what you have to offer. You're even able to have a bit of a laugh, because it's all about enjoying this common interest.
So, with all that in mind, here's a method that merges the task of voting, into the process of loading up Aquatic Babble.
Voting Bookmarks
What I have laid out here, is how to create a browser bookmark, that takes you 'through' the Voting Link. These instructions depict Firefox, but IE will be similar.
1. Right Click on one of the Voting Links. Select "Bookmark This Link".
2. Type a meaningful name for your bookmark, and save. I have created a folder on my bookmarks toolbar, in which I have all of my Voting Links.
3. So now, I can select a Vote Link at random, whenever I choose to visit Aquatic Babble. The bookmark takes me in through Voting. I click on our Banner to follow through to Aquatic Babble, incrementing our 'outgoing' tally as well. I no longer 'forget' to vote, and we're assured of at least a couple of votes per day !
If anyone needs these instructions for IE, or Netscape, just let me know.
